The illusion is real my friends… This small photo montage (above) is a piece I did for Allie Kaniyah ~ https://www.instagram.com/alliekaniyah/ ~ the original photo is Allie with brown hair and smoke, the edits were done by me, including the color design and the smoke editing ~ at that time it was my most challenging project to date ~ always fun learning new things and working with great people! đź’«
I decided to approach the creation of “I Am a Violet Being of Fire” differently than anything I ever made before. The main idea of this video was based around a metaphysical topic known as “5D” or “the 5th dimension”. Even though I have been practicing meditation since a young age and have been aware of art that portrays the so called “5th dimension”, through the study of surreal art and certain pop-art artists, as well as staying in tune with the sentiments and styles of the broad range of “spiritual communities”, I wanted to sincerely grasp what might actually represent this “5th dimension” to anyone that might not be familiar, and showcase to anyone that came across this video the intention of the piece in a clear, vibrant, and inspiring fashion.Â
I told Beaux, the producer of Vibonacci, that I was going to spend a month to really understand this concept. The question being “what is the 5th dimension”. During that month that I spent conceptualizing the project, I would meditate and ruminate on these metaphysical concepts from an artists view. I took notes and made digital samples and models as I went along to document the progress and make any adjustments as I needed. The one thing I did not do was attempt to make any official drafts before the given deadline. Although, I would send the art samples and renderings to Beaux as I went along to bounce ideas. Finally, after a months time I was ready to drop planning and just go for the creation of the final piece. Surprisingly I started and finished the entire project in 3 work days. It was so on-point and matched my vision so clearly that I knew that the first draft was the last draft. It felt like the months long visioning process built a momentum and such a strong vision that it was entirely clear as to what I needed to do. The process over those 3 days was so fast and clean. The video was a major success for our channel, and is still gaining views and comments.Â
Many of the album covers I make for Source Vibrations and Vibonacci are actually symbols for the feelings and intentions that are hoped to be expressed to the audience through the track, working as a guide-post for the ideas, themes, and energy inspired by the musician.
Inspiration can come at any moment, it is crucial to have the tools at hand when the moments come.. sometimes those tools are simply a pen and some paper: the below image is a hand-drawn logo concept for a fictional VR company “ioptic VR” ~ process was digitizing hand drawn elements and converting into vector art samples.
